Like other models in the Garmin range, the Edge 830 has been designed to create a safer riding environment with smartphone compatible features like rider-to-rider messaging. It allows you to send prewritten messages and let them know if you'll catch them or to go on without you. You can also send prewritten replies to texts or missed calls. The unit can also be paired with LiveTrack and GroupTrack to let friends, family and fellow riders keep track of your location in real time. Another great safety feature is incident detection which can manually or automatically send your location to your emergency contacts in the event of an unexpected mishap.
